Hey there! I'm Shantanu Kadam (srkadam “at” berkeley.edu) a physics major who cares about the environment. When I'm not at the chalkboard, you can find me swing dancing, cooking, daydreaming about Siberian Huskies, exploring Berkeley for vegan treats, perpetually drinking tea, reading, and (most importantly!) sleeping. Home sweet home is back in Alabama, so if you have any concerns about being far from home, please share them with me!
Fanghui “Wendy” Wan (wendywan_2022 “at” berkeley.edu) is a fourth-year majoring in physics and applied math. Barely started doing research in James Analytis lab, she is already overwhelmed by the hard problem(sets) in physics classes. Wendy is nearsighted but reluctant to wear glasses, so make sure to say hi before she sees you in the hall way.
Long live the rulers.
Hi! I'm Siddhant Mal (sid.mal “at” berkeley.edu), a third year physics/math major and the vice president of SPS. I do research in AMO and otherwise spend my time reading, hiking or hanging out with friends. Feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to help however I can!
The firm right-hand of the club.
Hi everyone! I am Bingxu (Howard) Meng (howardm12138 “at” berkeley.edu), a second year student majoring in physics and computer science. I enjoy solving physics problems, and interests in doing research in particle physics. I love SPS ever since I joined, and I hope I can make you feel that way too!. Feel free to talk to me about anything! Advice, academics, games, anime, and everything else.
The true brains of the operation. Widely reputed for being able to take pencil to paper and pedal to the metal.
Hi there! I'm Christian Ramos (christramo069 “at” berkeley.edu), a third year majoring in physics and astrophysics. I'm from Chowchilla, CA which is a small town in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I'm a 2x GBO leader and one of the Undergraduate Climate Advisors for the Astronomy Department so feel free to talk to me about anything (doesn't have to be about physics specifically). I'm currently not involved in research though I am very interested in cosmology and compact object mergers. I enjoy playing volleyball, eating a lot of fast food, and listening to music. So if you'd like to do any of those things together and/or would like to chat, feel free to reach out!
Max Pan (mp172910 “at” berkeley.edu) is currently a senior student at Cal, majoring in Physics and Computer Science. Some hobbies of Max include playing the piano, playing guitar, and listening to music.
You can count on them to give their two cents at any cost.
Hi! I’m Pablo Castano Basurto (pcastano “at” berkeley.edu), a second year majoring in physics and math and I will be the SPS Outreach Officer this year! In my free time, I like to read, listen to music, playing piano, and hanging out with my girlfriend and friends!
In the name of education, this brave soul sends emails to people over and over again until they respond. Truly a noble hero.
Equity and Inclusion Chair
Hey all! I'm Elena Vasquez (elenavasquez “at” berkeley.edu) a third year majoring in physics and applied math (while also fulfilling the pre-medical pathway). Currently, I am doing Medical Physics research within the Radiation Oncology department at UCSF. When I am not in the reading room doing problem sets, I can be found dancing, enjoying nature, or exploring the Bay Area. If you'd ever like to chat about (literally) anything, please reach out!
Ruoyi Yin (ruoyiyin_2022 “at” berkeley.edu) is a fourth year majoring in physics who works in the Moving Universe lab and Leone Group in Berkeley on binary stars, black holes, and condensed matter simulation.
Hello, I'm Vibhu Ravindran (vibhu.ravindran “at” berkeley.edu), a second year majoring in math and physics and I'll be one of the webmasters of SPS this year. My research is currently in condensed matter theory but I'm also interested in mathematical physics. When I'm not staring blankly into space you can find me playing the violin, hiking or watching movies (of all genres).
Like a spider does a fly, they put SPS on the web.
Kobe Hassenzahl (khassenzahl “at” berkeley.edu) is is a third year physics major. He enjoys dancing, cooking, and aimlessly wandering the Berkeley campus. If you see him about, feel free to say hello or to strike up a conversation.
Hi! I'm Ameya Kunder (a.kunder “at” berkeley.edu), a third year majoring in physics and computer science. Alright how about instead of reading my bio, you come to a seminar and chat with me?
Certifiably the diplomats of SPS—wars have been waged and fought over the last slice of pizza.
Nathaniel Rowe (nathanielerowe “at” berkeley.edu) is a third year physics and applied math major. His current focus is on particle physics for the DUNE experiment. His hobbies include playing bass, cooking, and running.
Before you can fill your brain, you must first fill your stomach. The only people in miles who can competently do tech support on a grill.
Hi! I'm Digvijay Roy Varier ( digvijayroyvarier “at” berkeley.edu) a fourth-year Physics and Math major who started off with a passion for Number Theory and Organic Chemistry, but got dangerously attracted to String Theory in senior year of high school. I am interested in particle/high-energy theory and have done research in super-symmetric gauge theories, neutrino-nucleon interactions, charged-lepton flavor violation and di-photon Higgs decay. Since I barely sleep, I have a lot of time for hobbies, which include acrylic painting, playing the violin, taking random photographs, watching cricket matches, hitting cricket shots in a game of tennis, and trying out beat-boxing. The probability of finding me in a dull mood is exactly zero, so feel free to strike up a conversation!
I'm Arundhati Ghosal (arundhati2207 berkeley.edu), a third year Physics major and I am interested in condensed matter physics. I have two names so feel free to call me Ninni. I love talking to people and leaning more about different cultures. Some of my interests outside physics: Taekwondo, hula hooping, getting bobaless boba, traveling, and baking. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions about physics or life :)
They can build you up and break you down.
Her name is Vivian Gao (vivian.g “at” berkeley.edu), and she's second year physics and math double major. She is extremely enthusiastic about fundamental physics and everything relates to that (she thinks it's just sooo cool!!!) When she is not trying to catch up with the deadline, she loves reading/writing poetry and playing basketball and reading about physics.
My name is Binhan Hua (binhan_hua “at” berkeley.edu), and I'm a third year physics and data science student from Irvine. I am currently doing AMO research with the FlyG project under professor Müller. Outside school, I enjoy watching anime, playing videogames (all platforms!), watching golf, and staying in bed for as long as possible.
Jinze Wu (jinzewu “at” berkeley.edu) is a third year intended physics and math double major. Outside of class, Jinze enjoys collecting weird historical things and memes.
