minutesDiscussion about reading room:
----------------------------
Here's the scoop: Old LeConte will be reopening soon, and we'll have a huge influx of all the grad students and others that are spread out to Evans, HFA, etc.

Students' concerns about the reading room were voiced: near SPS, 111 lab, and GSI office hours. Also mentioned the fact that grad students and students in other classes studying there is a big plus. Reading room good for individual and group study. Space allows for a large number of students to stuudy comfortably. Best way to argue: lose educational effectiveness if reduce size of reading room.

Bob's suggestion: think of what's important to us, what we lost, can stand to lose. Compare with what we had 3 years ago. (talk to recent alumni). Used to have a lot more (ie, coke machines).

We will have a voice in the Spacing Committee.

Lauren will write up a list of concerns (specifically about the lack of community) and deliver it to Claudia.

Free food for faculty for BBQ on Friday.

Feb. 7th: Career Seminar. Lauren can't make it. Nate will be in charge of the event. Food will be served at 12:15. Officially talk starts at 12:30pm. Kristina will send blurb to majors.

Community outreach. I'm waiting to hear back. One night a week tutoring plus demonstration for schools in the area. Going to be difficult to get tutors without any benefits. Maybe use funds from SPS or BBQs. Room reserved in Chemistry quad. We'll see how much we make from the BBQ. Chemistry can help pay for some? Wednesday. Final decision will be made on Friday.

Need to get flyer for construction areas. Also price list.
